One Acre

About One Acre

I had initially headed to Martha’s Vineyard with the intention of focusing on another story. A few things fell through, and my backup plan led me to the Farm Institute, which then led me to Lily. I was really drawn to and inspired by Lily’s passionate yet grounded perspective on how she intends to make her goals become her reality, one acre at a time. This was such a fun piece to work on โ€“ I loved the ferry rides over, meeting interesting people on Martha’s Vineyard, and getting to see the inner-workings of a farm. It was rather challenging to get quality recordings โ€“ there were lots of noisy birds, wind and rain on one of the days I was there. Certainly one of the more memorable experiences of working on this piece was when I electrocuted myself on a cattle fence. But at least I got it on tape โ€“ which is both awesomely embarrassing and entertaining.
