Intro

Transom has always been interested in voices we’re NOT hearing on public radio, and if not, why not. Maybe they simply haven’t been discovered, or maybe they don’t “fit.” That notion of FITTING is at the heart of many questions about public broadcasting.

But’s that’s a rather cumbersome intro to OddTodd.

OddTodd. He hasn’t told us his last name yet, so we’ll call him Todd rather than Odd. Todd is out of work. At least we think so. Maybe he’s really rich, we don’t know. He makes audio monologue/cartoons on the Internet, and sells associated logo items. We are featuring his work here on Transom because it’s very funny and we’d like to encourage the existence of a radio version, even though the cartoon is better.

We’ve asked Todd for some background on his work, but he hasn’t gotten around to it. He could be out looking for a job. Or watching TV. Or napping. But we don’t want to delay your enjoyment of his work by waiting. If he sends us something we’ll post it here.

Born in New Rochelle New York. Terrible student. Graduated high school with a 77% average. and college with a 2.27gpa. I worked in publishing for five years selling books and then spent three years in the dot com world. I missed out on getting rich. I live in Brooklyn now.

My overnite “success” comes from 10 years of being a struggling cartoonist with failed comic strips and a line of greeting cards called ‘Odd Todd Greetings’. Right now i’m working on finishing The Odd Todd Handbook: Hard Times, Soft Couch for Warner books and a new Laid-off cartoon. My work ethic is really bad. I have to set deadlines for myself or I’d never get anything done. Everytime I sit down to work I have to do absolutely everything under the sun first so I have no more procrastination excuses. I’m trying to learn discipline but I’ve never been very structured in how I work and stuff…
